Olivette Jacket ( Bahama Blue )
Before synthetic fabrics were developed oilskin used to be the fabric of choice for wet wheather gear. Oilskin was typically worn by sailors, fishery workers and farmers.
Oilskin is created by using a tightly woven 100% Cotton and coating it in boiled Linseed oil. This provides a more sustainable fabric than most modern synthetic fibres we see now.
If treated right your Oilskin Jacket can last you a lifetime.
-Do not wash with detergent or hot water as this removes the oil and wax which are crucial to the Oilskin’s waterproofing qualities. Instead wipe down with a damp cloth when needed
-Store in a well airated space to avoid it getting musty or mouldy
-When your jacket is no longer waterproof you can reproof it. I recommend using Driza-Bone Oilskin reproofer dressing following their instructions.
